How to create and install SSL Certificate

Good to know for the very begining:
1) The autogenerated SSL certificate
- cost nothing.
- you know exactlly that the url/IP is trusting.
- you need it to be sure that all data between your computer and that IP/url are encrypeted.
For example you need it to manage your unix/linux based box via webmin.
2 ) The real SSL certificate
- it is not free.
- a company ( for example Comodo, DigiCert, ...) will check you identity
- you will send to them an encrypted file which contain your details - the CSR file
- you will receive from them two files which must be installed on the web server/mail server.
- you need it if you have to prove to your web users that the website is your website and/or you want that all sensitive data which are sent over the net between web user computers and your website are encrypted.
For example you need it if you collect credit card details on your website.
Normally the server where the ssl must be installed is not your server. If you wish to install an ssl which is not bought from that hosting company it is a must to send them the "intermediate .crt file) and to let them know who is your SSL provider.
However ask before buy. For example if the hosting company relay on "Zeus architecure" the best is to buy from that company even it is costly.
